| history |
When Ewan was very small, he owned a telescope. It was probably his favorite thing in the entire world. He would sit up in his room, and he would look into his telescope and look at the stars, and just be absolutely amazed by the fact that there was so much wonder out there in that big blue sky! Of course, it's more of an indigo at night time, but that isn't the point at all. It was still HUGE! It was gorgeous, and it was full of so much mystery! Ewan wanted to learn so much about it. He wanted to get books and learn about the sky, and the stars, and the moon, but his family couldn't really afford any of that. They could barely afford to keep him in school, and his telescope was passed down from his great, great grandfather. He got some books from the library, but didn't understand what most of them said. Yeah, Ewan was pretty poor, but he didn't mind! As long as he had his telescope and the big blue/indigo sky! One day, while he was sitting up in his room, kneeling on his bed, his parents called up to him and told him that they were going to go for a drive. Now, this was a normal occurrence, and he was more than used to sitting at home by himself for a little while. It wasn't like they had many neighbors, since they lived out in a secluded area. So, he said goodbye to his Mom and Dad, and looked into his telescope to keep himself busy. It was then that he saw something that he had never seen before! It was a big streak of light in the sky! And...it was getting closer! And CLOSER! Ewan gasped as he watched it through the lens, pulling his eye away to look out his window. Oh, he didn't need his telescope anymore. No, he could see what was happening with his naked eye! It was a meteor shower. A METEOR shower, right THERE! His mouth opened as he watched the rocks crash into the earth, burning the grass, ruining everything. But not one touched that house. The phone rang, a few minutes later, and Ewan, still in shock, shuffled over and picked it up, his eyes still wide, and amazed. Listening to the man on the other end, he took in the news he had to give. Both of his parents were dead. A meteor had struck their car, and they were killed. Ewan didn't understand. The...sky did this. The sky, his favorite thing in the world, had just killed his parents. Needless to say, Ewan was...upset. He burrowed himself into a corner in his room, and wrapped his arms around his head, his heart racing in his chest. He could have sworn he heard another meteor fall! He jerked his head up, and began to hyperventilate, his asthma kicking in as he began to wheeze. It was probably a good thing that someone, he couldn't even begin to tell you who, even though it was a fire man, came upstairs and carried him downstairs. They gave him an oxygen mask, and told him that he needed to go to stay with his grandfather, since that was his only relative. He had no aunts or uncles, and all of his other grandparents had passed away. He began to hyperventilate again. No, no, NO! He wouldn't go out there. He wouldn't go outside, not after what had happened. What if the sky fell again? What if he was killed next? No, he refused. He kicked and screamed, and locked himself in his room. He wouldn't leave. He WOULDN'T leave, he couldn't and he wouldn't. He would surely DIE if he went out there. The sky wasn't safe anymore. The sky wasn't a good thing, not after it had just fallen on his parents and killed them. But the house was safe. Yeah, the house hadn't gotten hit by the sky. He stayed in that house for 7 years. His grandfather had died by that time, and Ewan wasn't 18 yet. So...it was up to the state to decide what to do with him. It took about 4 men to finally sedate and drag Ewan out of that house, and put him into an asylum...something his grandfather should have done 7 years ago. But Ewan went berserk. He would start pulling at his hair and crying, refusing to leave the room. For 8 years, Ewan was treated at a mediocre hospital, where they gave him drugs that made him nearly comatose, glazed over and numb. He was deathly pale, and wasn't fed correctly. Eventually, people found out about how the patients there were being treated, and they shut it down, transferring the patients to new locations. Ewan was sent to Cheshire Crossings. He would say he likes it here better than he did the other asylum, but that would be such a lie...partially because he doesn't even remember much of the last 8 years. He hates it. He just wants to go back to his house, the only place where he was safe. The sky is out to get him, after all. |

Foxy Loxy: This person is someone that Ewan avoids as much as possible. They are always picking on him, and trying to get him to go outside, and probably do awful things like throw things up in the air so they fall down on his head, causing him to freak out and hide underneath a desk for the entire day. Ewan does not like this person at all. Abby Mallard: This person is someone who believes Ewan, no matter what. She doesn't tell him that the sky really isn't falling, but tries to understand why he thinks that it is. This person is also Ewan's love interest because she makes him feel like he isn't really as crazy as everyone else thinks he is.
